Information Available About the Those Lost of the Bondi Beach Terrorist Incident
At least 16 people were killed and over 40 were hurt when assailants fired on a Hanukkah celebration at Bondi Beach, an attack local police have labeled a act of terrorism.
According to the most recent information, authorities have stated the death toll remains at 16, encompassing one of the alleged attackers. Additionally, 42 injured people were transported to hospital.
The victims are still awaiting publicly named, but authorities state their ages span between 10 and 87 years of age.

Eli Schlanger
Originally from London rabbi Eli Schlanger, 41, was the first victim to be named.
Reportedly a father-of-five, he was the assistant rabbi at a local Jewish cultural centre. Family members and acquaintances spoke of him as “vivacious, energetic, full of life and a very warm outgoing person who loved to help people”.
“How can a happy rabbi who went to a beach to spread happiness and light, to make the world a better place, meet his end in this way?” a relative said.
Schlanger and his wife celebrated the birth of their newest son just a few months ago.
Alexander Kleytman
Alexander Kleytman was also confirmed among the deceased, according to his wife.
She recounted the events before the shooting, saying they were standing when the shooting started. “He shielded me because he wanted to stay near me,” she stated.
The husband and wife were both survivors of the Holocaust, having faced immense hardship in their childhood. They had subsequently immigrated to Australia from Eastern Europe.
Dan Elkayam
French authorities have confirmed that French national Dan Elkayam is among the dead.
Officially, the Foreign Minister expressed that France mourned with his family, the Jewish community, and the Australian people.
“This cowardly attack is a new, tragic manifestation of a disgusting rise of antisemitic hatred that we must put a stop to,” the statement read.
One Child
A 10-year-old girl who was rushed to the a children's hospital has been confirmed among the fatalities, authorities stated.
One Israeli Citizen
An Israeli citizen was among those killed during the attack, according to multiple sources citing the Israeli foreign ministry.
Those Injured
From the 42 people taken to hospital, a significant number remain receiving treatment, with a number in critical condition. The injured include two officers who responded to the attack.
A wounded man is a member of the public who attempted to intervene to confront one of the attackers. Described as a local hero, he sustained gunshot wounds but is in stable condition in hospital.
Arsen Ostrovsky
One of those wounded is Arsen Ostrovsky, a human rights lawyer. Reports indicate he was wounded and is receiving treatment in hospital.
In a message, he recounted the incident as an “absolute bloodbath,” but also praised the response of those who rushed to help. He stated he felt it was a “stroke of luck” he survived.
Evan Zlatkis
Evan Zlatkis, a community director, was another casualty in the attack. He told reporters he listened to “a large number” of gunshots.
“Initially, I believed it was something less lethal, but it penetrated my own skin and into my leg,” he stated. “I was hit. I received first aid. I’m ok.”
