Performer Denies Anti-Vaxxer Stance After Voicing Controversial Coronavirus Documentary
The "Taken" star has given his voice to a feature-length documentary that challenges the safety of vaccinations and commends former health official Robert F Kennedy Jr.
The Documentary's Provocative Origins
Called "Plague of Corruption," the film is adapted from a popular book written by a controversial scientist, who became famous during the pandemic for allegations that the virus was a result of a bad strain of the flu vaccine.
The book's collaborator, a producer, has previously authored books with conspiracy-prone media personality a known commentator. He wrote online hailing Neeson's participation in the project.
A Firm Statement
The team of Liam Neeson have issued a comment firmly refuting implications that he subscribes to anti-vax beliefs.
"Many recognize that corruption might be present within the pharmaceutical industry, but that cannot be confused with being against vaccines," the statement explains. "He is not, and remains not, anti-vaccination. His long work with the global charity reinforces his enduring support for worldwide vaccination initiatives."
The response noted that the star had no hand in the project's messaging and that inquiries about its content ought to go to the filmmakers.
Key Claims Within the Feature
According to the documentary, the voiceover spoken by Neeson includes several provocative statements:
- It suggests that pro-immunization voices have demanded "complete compliance" to health authorities.
- It posits that "science has become deeply politicized."
- RFK Jr is shown claiming, "The core flaw with vaccines is that they just aren't properly vetted."
- It takes aim at pandemic restrictions, arguing they caused mental anguish that cost thousands of lives.
- On the topic of Covid vaccines, it references a report that they were "developed too quickly" and seen as "dangerous experiments."
Previous Context and Ongoing Issues
The documentary also references a past television report about HIV drug testing on children, which was subsequently the topic of a formal apology by the network for violations of guidelines.
Recently, RFK Jr instructed the Centers for Disease Control to revise its official position that there is no link between vaccines and autism spectrum disorder. This assertion is echoed in the film, contrary to a new report from the global health body stating no connection has been found.
An Earlier Record of Support
Standing in contrast to the documentary's narrative, Neeson has in the past voiced firm endorsement for vaccines in his position as a UNICEF goodwill ambassador.
In 2022, he called vaccines as "an incredible triumph," stating that "The debate about vaccines in recent years has overlooked how much benefit they have done... It is perhaps one of the biggest shared accomplishments in history."
The documentary finishes with Neeson's voice proclaiming, "This marks not the end of our journey. It is the start of a new chapter."
