Fresh particulars have surfaced regarding the tragic demises of acclaimed filmmaker Rob Reiner and artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose bodies were found at their residence residence on Sunday.

The Discovery

A source indicates citing a family associate, a massage therapist scheduled for an appointment was the first to notice something was wrong after being unable to gain access the house. The practitioner then got in touch with the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who lives close by.

Upon entering the home, Romy discovered her father's body. Reports state she then left the home distraught, not realizing at that moment that her mother's body was there as well. Another individual who had gone with her contacted 911. Subsequently, paramedics found Michele Singer Reiner's body.

Criminal Charges

The police have charged the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with two counts of premeditated murder, along with the use of a dangerous weapon, said to be a knife. He is presently in custody and is ineligible for bail.

Disputed Reports

The person close to the family questioned several initial details. They said that while Romy Reiner told first responders that her brother Nick lived in a guesthouse on the property, she did not name him as a potential suspect at that juncture.

Additionally pushed back against widely reported notions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been unusually "apprehensive" about Nick's behavior in recent weeks. The source claimed the family was "accustomed to working through [Nick's] problems together."

This correction applies to reports of reportedly "erratic" behavior by Nick at a party hosted by Conan O'Brien on the night before the bodies were found. Although the source noted they were not in a position to confirm whether Rob had "scolded" his son at the party, they said that suggestions of a "heated argument" between the two were inaccurate.

Investigation Timeline

As stated by law enforcement sources, the medical examiner had yet to determine at that point whether the Reiners died late on Saturday or on Sunday. Preliminary accounts indicated the condition of their bodies suggested they had been dead for a number of hours.

Nick Reiner was apprehended at around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park, about 15 miles from the scene. He was set to appear in court on Tuesday, but his legal counsel, Alan Jackson, said his client had not been medically cleared and would not appear until no sooner than Wednesday.
