Slot Asserts He Is Secure and Has The Club's Support Following PSV Defeat

Arne Slot conceded that it was natural for questions to be asked about his future following another convincing loss versus the Dutch champions.

Liverpool suffered their 9th defeat in 12 matches, representing the team's worst run since being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were outplayed by the Eredivisie champions on a difficult night at Anfield.

“I'm confident, I am OK, I have got a lot of backing from the top,” Slot commented.

“It would be great to reverse this trend and earn three points obviously but when you're in a managerial role and not doing well then it's expected that people question you.”

He noted, “I accept my role. It is not the initial instance I’ve been in a tough spot but it's crucial that we turned it around.”

Conversations with Club Management

Upon being questioned to provide details on his discussions with the team officials, the head coach revealed:

“We talk a lot. They are supportive to the team and to me and those talks happen but they don't phone me constantly of the day to say they have faith in me.”

He added, “Through standard exchanges I sense the belief. But I haven’t spoken to them after this game yet so we'll see.”

Recurring Problems and Squad Response

Slot highlighted known shortcomings from his squad in their European loss, specifically poor finishing and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, player Jones was more forthright in his view of the club’s predicament.

“I don’t have the solutions. Truthfully, I do not. I'm telling that to everyone,” the midfielder stated.

“It is not good enough. I don’t even need to wait to reflect. I’m past feeling anger internally. I’m at the point now where I simply lack the words.”

He went on, “It’s hard because I play for the side I follow. I support them, and I’ve seen Liverpool all my life.”

“For many years, I haven’t experienced a Reds side going through a phase like this with results this poor.”

He finished, “But we still have the crest on our shirts. And as long as it is taken away, we’re always going to compete.”

“We’re going to try to bring this squad return to the top, demonstrate to all again the values of this club and why it's known as the greatest side in the world.”

“But right now, we're in trouble and we have to turn it around.”
