Starting Lineup

The goalkeeper Was rarely tested to perform before the break until forced to intervene from an opponent's curled attempt. A sliding tackle against an Albanian attacker showed excellent game intelligence. 6/10

The debutant Examined against the opposition's primary attacker in Hoxha. Started through the middle initially then shifted wider after Saka was introduced. Seven

John Stones Moved forward with the ball at his feet, a familiar role in the past. At times was too casual in possession and the experiment abandoned by the interval. 6

Dan Burn Always dangerous on corners and free-kicks, as always, perhaps is a replacement for Stones in defense rather than paired with him. A careless pass after the break almost led to an opener from the visitors. 6

Nico O’Reilly A further assured performance by the youngster following his first cap against Serbia. A teammate was unable to take the most of an exquisite flick over their defense. The role is his to lose at this stage. 7/10

The newcomer His maiden beginning with the national team. Somewhat careless on the ball though his dangerous deliveries caused problems. A useful pace-controller available to the boss to call upon against teams who drop deep. Shown a yellow after a reckless foul. 6

The midfielder Deliveries from corners and free kicks caused problems. Had room to drift in left midfield yet found himself offside when the ball arrived in front of goal. Granted a deserved break around the 60-minute point. 6

Jude Bellingham Played in a forward position on the right and put in defensive duties. Demonstrated flashes of quality but dragged an attempt high. Substituted in the closing stages by a teammate, his competition, after receiving a caution. 7/10

Jarrod Bowen Had England’s clearest opportunity before halftime, his effort well saved by Thomas Strakosha. With Quansah staying deep, he was forced to stretch the play down the right side but his crosses from wide areas varied in quality. Taken off for the final quarter-hour. 6/10

Harry Kane The match-winner netting two more strikes for his country. The first a typical opportunist's goal and his next an excellent header following a clever run off his defender. Aged 32, he continues to improve and England are strong contenders in the upcoming tournament with him leading the line. Eight

Eberechi Eze Had difficulty to make an impact out wide. Was presented with a good opening after being played in by Bellingham yet Strakosha kept it out. His replacement made much more of effect in his place. 5
