That Grisly Animated Film Ending That Stays With Fans

Out of every mature cartoon movies I’ve personally watched, no other has remained with me quite like the dread-soaked conclusion of the explicitly bloody as well as deeply subversive 2022 movie The Unicorn Wars.

Back in the year 2015, the Spain-based filmmaker crafted a grim, somber and often savage universe with a few small , forlorn twinges of optimism.

While Unicorn Wars feels like it originated from a drive to push the medium even more, the director stated that it was more an effort to express a universal, multicultural theme about “the shared root of each battle.”

That message is conveyed via a squad of colorful pastel bears , obviously based on a well-known series of lovable characters.

Maturing in a community focused on militarism as well as the defense industry, a lot of these animals are consumed by exterminating unicorns, because of a holy book that claims them they used to be masters of the woods, before the horned beings expelled them.

Others haven’t fully bought into the indoctrination, , prefer to experiment with drugs and mate in the woods.

Unlike their gentle equivalents, these bright beings show sexual organs , clear libidos.

For one notably brutal, cynical bear, the bear named Bluey, the conflict against unicorns turns into a path toward dominance — and especially to supremacy over his softer, nicer brother the character Tubby.

Bluey acts as a tormentor , an obvious psychopath , and when fear dominates his squad and kills his fellow soldiers individually, he takes more and more influence for himself, through ever more violent, harmful methods.

Simultaneously, the horned creatures are experiencing their own nightmare, as a growing, destructive monster in their habitat.

“Initially, it feels like a humorous movie,” the director said. “But then it turns into a more intense and sad film. And ultimately, it becomes a scary feature.”

The Unicorn Wars commences feeling a bit like one of the more quirky features from a renowned animator, that uncover a naughty glee in allowing drawn beings swear, fire weapons, or engage sexually.

Afterward it evolves into something more like a darker film from the same director, featuring progressively graphic violence and a tangible link to the actual horror of war.

In the finale, it’s a full-on theatrical horror massacre.

The fear that turns this an ideal spooky-season movie begins a lot earlier than indicated.

Unicorn Wars is suited for the most dedicated lovers of violence, for lovers of extreme cinema who desire to watch a movie they have not watched previously, and can endure a story which delivers absolutely no punches.

View it in a dark room without any distractions, and the finale will burrow deep within you and take up residence there.
