The Renowned Musician Calls On Backing to Get Palestinian Solidarity Track to UK Holiday Chart Peak.

A fundraising initiative is aiming to propel a Palestinian lullaby to the peak of the festive singles chart. The project hopes to send support to people in Gaza while also showcasing Palestinian cultural expression.

A Possibility for Unity and an "Unlikely Coup"

Renowned figure Brian Eno, who performs on the track, stated that the release called 'Lullaby' represents a opportunity to show solidarity with Palestinians this festive season. He noted the potential for an unlikely festive coup.

“That would be amazing if that occurred, yes,” he commented. “I’m not gonna be completely disappointed if it doesn’t, festive releases are a unique phenomenon.”

Resilient Spirit of Dignity and Freedom

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who features in the reimagining of a folk song called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the piece's resilient spirit.

“It has a deeply meaningful spot for a lot of people,” Barghouti said. “The essence is that I would rather die in dignity than spend my life without freedom. That’s the main theme of the song; we want to live a life of dignity that we merit as a people.”

Recording Origins and Contributing Musicians

The track was produced after a major charity concert held in September. First conceived to be done as a live recording, the rendition was cut from the show due to scheduling overruns.

The notable list of artists contributing to Lullaby encompasses a selection of well-known figures from the music world. All participated in the September show, which managed to collect a substantial amount for relief efforts.

Creation and Launch

Lullaby was crafted by a group of producers and composers. The track blends a fusion of the heritage language with new English lyrics.

The organizers behind the initiative have clarified that their goal is to collect the highest amount for a specific fund. These resources will be channeled to initiatives supporting Palestinians through an non-profit partner.

“We haven't set a rigid aim,” a figure said. “We will pursue whatever we can get. Naturally, the greater the amount, the better. Every penny goes out to Gaza.”

The situation in the area was described as its widespread damage, with a vast majority of property described as destroyed or damaged.

“Against that backdrop, a couple of million is unlikely to make a massive dent. But I think the significant factor is above all raising awareness for this issue and demonstrating that another narrative exists.”

The single 'Lullaby' is set to be released on Friday. Additionally, a video of the benefit event will be made available for streaming on a digital service from the 19th of December.
